Navy Blue Dream...

Port Adelaide, is a really old-school part of Adelaide in South Australia. I visited there in March and although it doesn't have much to offer for tourism it has the best vintage flea market ever and some of my most valuable op-shop treasures were discovered there.

I found 2 original 1950s dress patterns and this week decided to take the chance and make one of the dresses. 3 days of sewing + 6 metres of fabric + 5 pricked fingers = 1 cute little dress!

I made it as a trial dress but now that it's all finished and accessorized I think there will be many more being created for my wardrobe and eventual Etsy Shop.

I got the earrings for 50c from the Op-Shop down the road, I was talking to one of the ladies behind the counter about how hard it is to find 50s earrings and she said she had a whole box she never wore and would bring them in! Next day I left with big red round earrings!!

The hardest part of the whole dress was doing scott pleats in the skirt and internal buttons. In the end though...I believe it was all worth it!
