'What Kind Of Vintage Are You?' Quiz

I like to spend night times stalking some of my favourite vintage bloggers. One of my recent favourites 'Candice DeVille' had posted onto her facebook a link to the "What Kind Of Vintage Are You?' quiz, and so because I have nothing better to do tonight I decided to take it. It was very amusing.

There were basically 4 results you could end up with...

• The Vintage Maven
• The Vintage Chick
• The Vintage Kitten
• The Vintage Rebel
• The Vintage Hipster

you can take the quiz and get your results at:
http://redlegsinsoho.blogspot.com/2010/10/patented-nonsense-what-kind-of-vintage.html

My result was!!!: The Vintage Chick!!! teheheh! Close maybe? What are your thoughts? Comment me what your results are!!

For this one it is all about the music and having fun. Not so much dressing from an era as dressing for a life: of lindy-hopping, hot rodding mayhem. Her vintage period is the fifties and she trawls the rails for Swirl dresses and day dresses. Often to be seen flitting from place to place dragging a bag with a change of shoes and a studiedly sullen boyfriend behind her. Livens up any party with her exhibition-level dancing skills and spends the summer teaching festival goers how to jive. Natural habitat, any of several dozen fifties weekenders. Yearns for Americana but is as British as an Eccles cake.

The Vintage Chick spends a fortune on Elnett and has a growing addiction to tattoos. Whilst her style may be somewhat generic you can rely on at least hearing good music whilst she is around. Sadly she is sometimes irritatingly young and her dancing skills make you feel like a geriatric hippo on the dancefloor.

Yellow polka-dots and pink silk

This entire outfit is something my mum has devised for me.
Last year I went through as phase where I would only (out of habit) but things in black and red. Not trying to be morbid or depressing, just that everything of my fancy happened to be in those 2 colours.

So then one of my friends dared me to not wear any black for 2 weeks. Not one to baulk in the face of a harmless dare I accepted, only to discover 2hours later that I didn't have anything apart from pajamas that weren't black or red. I'd left all of my coloured clothing at my parents house back in Gladstone.

Shortly before all of this dare took place I'd seen a beautiful rockabilly yellow and white polkadot dress in 'Post Modern Ink' Magazine. I'd spent 3 weeks scouring the opshops for anything in yellow polkadots (I even ended up praying for a yellow polkadot dress) and eventually found 1 dress to my absolute luck but it wasn't rockabilly at all. But at this point I was so excited to even find a dress slightly similar I didn't care and emailed mum telling her the whole story! To my suprise she emailed me back saying she had been sewing me one and I hadn't even told her about it in the first place. Only this time it was a rockabilly one! Who says God doesn't answer even simple prayers!!

The head scarf is also my mothers, its made of hot pink silk and she previously wore it as a belt around her overalls! Now I use it as a hair piece (my waist isn't as tiny as hers)

OH! And here I was trying to get a picture of the back of the dress and a wasp flew at me really fast! I freaked out and thought it was going to run into my nose hahahah.

Each piece of clothing has a wonderful story behind it!

Boogie binge

Saturday I had one of the best finds I've had in a long time! I was shopping with one of my housemates and due to lack of attention and well....sleep I guess, I found myself just walking around aimlessly through the CD isle of Big w when the corner of my eye caught a $2 sign. This ALWAYS interests me! What is sooo dreadfully bad that they have to sell it for $2!
So I made my way to this shelf of potential cds, and find nearly all of the music I've been looking for in the last 6months! There was a huge selection of Rock'n'Roll music, 40s and 50s swing and a few big band style mixes as well! I ended up taking home 'Rosemary Clooney', 'Frank Sinatra', 'Peggy Lee', 'Marilyn Monroe' and 2 different compilations of 'The Andrews Sisters'.
Now my office has the feel of record players, brass band and Rock'n'Rollin good times and all is cost me as $12!!!
