Today I was supposed to go to the beach with one of my housemates, but when I got up and went outside I was greeted with a rainy, cold and cloudy sky. It never rains here and the one day we decide to go to the beach it decides to be cold.

To look on the bright side (or the overcast side) I will spend the day indoors with a good book and enjoy the 1 day of winter North Queensland gets each year. Although....I bet tomorrow will be bright and sunny as soon as I get to work. Tehe - thats the way it goes!

So in dreaming of the beach I have dug up pics of a 70s sailor dress I made earlier this year. The little cream felted hat was a great find from a op-shop (thrift store). It looks to be vintage and kept in great condition - It has a little bit of a rust stain or something on the inside brim but I thought it was barely noticeable and thought this cute hat deserved a second chance at life. Reminds me of something out of the TV Show 'Madeline'.
I worked on the ship called the 'Pacific Link' which is a YWAM Medical Ship based in Townsville. The Pacific Link will go to Papua New Guinea each year to give free medical care to the people there who can't afford or get to a doctor. On board they have 1 operating theater which can do basic eye surgeries and they do dental care as well.
Before I left I got all excited and decided I wanted to be a pirate or a sailor and live on a ship the rest of my life. This was quickly cured however once we sailed through 'The Bass Strait' from Victoria to Hobart in Tasmania. I didn't get sea sick - but there's no place like home - and no home like one that doesn't rock all day and night.
Was a great experience though. If you're interested check out www.ywamships.org there are plenty of great stories from the tour of Australia and the upcoming trip to Papua New Guinea.
Love Love! xx
